Apple Workers are Forming a Union!
There is a movement growing at Apple! Like Starbucks, like Amazon, workers have had enough. Issues around pay, scheduling, safety, and respect have been going on for too long now. More and more Apple workers realize that to fix these issues, we need a real seat at the table and a voice at work to hold the tech giant accountable to its retail credo. We need a union.
In October 2022, Oklahoma City Apple Store workers became the second group of Apple retail workers to win union representation in the US, following in the footsteps of Apple workers in Towson, MD represented by the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM). Workers are organizing for better pay, benefits and working conditions, ensuring a safer and more equitable workplace.
As the campaign continues to put pressure on the company, Apple has deployed anti-union tactics in order to intimidate and prevent workers from joining a union, like hiring a union-busting law firm and delaying bargaining negotiations. However, through collective power, Apple workers have secured union contracts that will provide the security and stability they deserve. Apple Retail Union-CWA now represents Apple salespeople, Genius admin, technicians, creatives, and operations specialists.
